On January 28, 2025, the Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada issued an update regarding "Government of Canada further strengthening the electric vehicle manufacturing sector". The government announced a $169.4 million investment in Linamar Corporation's Innovation Driving Green Technology Project to accelerate green technology development in the automotive sector. This project will create approximately 2,000 full-time jobs and 300 co-op positions, bringing over $800 million in private investments to Canada.
