FTC Sends More Than $540,000 in Refunds to Consumers Harmed by Phantom and Abusive Debt Collection Scheme

On September 17, 2020, the Federal Trade Commission filed lawsuits against National Landmark Logistics and Absolute Financial Services for engaging in deceptive debt collection practices. The defendants used robocalls to threaten consumers with lawsuits or arrest, often claiming debts that were not owed by the consumers. The FTC is sending $334.38 refunds to 1,625 affected consumers as part of a settlement agreement.
