On January 16, 2025, the Federal Trade Commission finalized an order with DoNotPay regarding its "robot lawyer" AI chatbot claims. The order prohibits Deceptive advertising and requires $193,000 in monetary relief and notification to past subscribers. The FTC charged that DoNotPay's robot lawyer failed to live up to its advertised capabilities, and the company did not test its service for accuracy or quality.
