On May 5, 2023, the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice Antitrust Division issued a joint letter directing federal agency heads to identify anticompetitive regulations that reduce competition, entrepreneurship, and innovation. The agencies were asked to provide a list of such regulations within their rulemaking authority, along with recommendations for deletion or modification, in response to President Trump's Executive Order on Reducing Anticompetitive Regulatory Barriers.
