"On Monday, July 14th, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva signed a Provisional Measure exempting over 300,000 taxi drivers across the country from paying the taximeter verification fee. This decision was based on a technical study by the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) and aims to save taxpayers over R$9 million annually."
