Brief
Summary:
The Italian government introduced a new law for 2021 which defines essential social assistance services based on the number of social workers employed in each territorial area, with a target of one operator for every 5,000 and an additional objective of serving one for every 4,000 residents. To support communal social services, a financial contribution is allocated to Ambiti sociali territoriali (ATS) based on the number of social workers employed proportionately to the resident population. By February 28th, each ATS must submit a summary report to the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies through the SIOSS platform, including two Excel files for 2023 and 2024 data. Additionally, ATS must report financial data and certification forms by the same deadline. The purpose of this initiative is to allocate a structural fund to support poverty reduction, not just new hires.
