Brief

The FERC Chairman Willie Phillips has officially named Debbie-Anne Reese as Secretary of the Commission. Reese had previously served in acting capacity since January 2024 and prior to that was the Deputy Secretary from May 2021. With an extensive career spanning over two decades at FERC, starting in 2006, Reese boasts a deep understanding of Commission processes, policies, and requirements. Her experience includes leadership roles such as managing attorney in the Office of the General Counsel-Energy Markets, where she advised Commissioners on electric rate matters. She was also involved in the development of policy statements on carbon pricing and the Office of Public Participation. As legal and policy advisor to former Chairman Jon Wellinghoff, Reese played a key role in overseeing day-to-day operations at the Commission. Before joining FERC, Reese worked for Verizon in External Affairs and Product Management.
