On June 17, 2025, the National Prosecuting Authority issued an update regarding COURT GRANTS PRESERVATION ORDER TO NPA IN ILLEGAL MINING CASE. The North West High Court granted a preservation order to the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) of the National Prosecuting Authority in terms of Section 38 of the Prevention of Organised Crime Act 121 of 1998, relating to approximately 39,058 metric tons of gold-bearing material valued at R16 million.
