The Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) and the Mexican Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) have signed a new 5-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on sustainable development at the ongoing COP 28 in Dubai. This agreement builds upon their cooperation started in 2016 and expands its scope to include the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. The protocol involves bilateral cooperation in six SDGs and includes monitoring and evaluation procedures focused on results-based approach, ownership, transparency, efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability.
