On 28/02/2025, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) issued an update regarding Construction Start Statistical Survey Report (January). The report showed a decrease in new residential construction starts, with a 4.6% drop compared to the same month last year. This trend was also reflected in seasonally adjusted annual rates, which showed a 1.2% decline from the previous month. The commercial sector experienced an increase in shop and warehouse construction starts, but a decrease in office and factory constructions led to an overall decrease.
