"On 07/11/2024, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) issued an update regarding Compensation to victims of violent intentional crime: the automatic exclusion of certain family members of the victim of homicide does not guarantee ‘fair and appropriate’ compensation. The ECJ stated that national legislation must take into account factors other than family ties alone when determining fair compensation, such as the extent of harm suffered by excluded family members."
