Commission welcomes new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner

The Australian Human Rights Commission has welcomed Katie Kiss as the new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner. Ms. Kiss is a proud Kaanju and Birri/Widi woman with decades of experience in public policy, international human rights law, and serving First Nations communities. She was previously the Executive Director of the Interim Truth and Treaty Body and has held senior positions in the Queensland Government and at the Australian Human Rights Commission. As the incoming Commissioner, Ms. Kiss will focus on promoting and protecting the rights of First Nations Peoples, particularly in areas such as social justice, constitutional reform, cultural heritage, and community development.
