Brazil records almost 52 thousand complaints of rights violations against people with disabilities in the first nine months of 2023

The Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship (MDHC) has reported a significant increase in denunciations of human rights violations against people with disabilities. From January to September 2023, a total of 51,734 denunciations were registered, representing an increase of 150% compared to the previous period. The majority of denunciations were reported in the states of Su00e3o Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Bahia, and Rio Grande do Sul. The most common types of denunciations include exposure to health risks, physical and emotional abuse, lack of social, health, and food assistance.
