On March 01, 2025, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) issued an update regarding Anvisa warns about the dangers of using artificial tanning beds. The agency alerts that artificial tanning beds with ultraviolet (UV) lamps can cause skin cancer, premature aging, burns, skin injuries, scarring, wrinkles, loss of skin elasticity, eye injuries such as photokeratitis, corneal and iris inflammation, conjunctivitis, early cataracts, pterygium, and epidermoid carcinoma of the conjunctiva.
