AER invites submissions on ring-fencing waiver applications from Ergon Energy and Energex for each to install six battery energy storage systems

On 02 May 2025, Ergon Energy submitted a waiver application under clause 5.2 of the Ring-fencing Guideline to install six battery energy storage systems. Similarly, on 08 May 2025, Energex submitted a waiver application under the same clause to also deploy six battery energy storage units. The proposed waivers would enable both utilities to lease part of the battery capacity to third parties and participate in the wholesale energy market.
