Brief

On March 6, 2025, the Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) issued an administrative notice of enactment of regulations on tobacco harmful ingredients, etc. The KFDA announced plans to strengthen enforcement of laws related to tobacco harm reduction ahead of the implementation of the "Tobacco Harm Reduction Act" on November 1, 2025. The proposed regulations outline specific requirements for tobacco manufacturers and importers to test and report on harmful substances in their products. Additionally, the regulations will apply the WHO-recommended strengthened collection method (ISO 20778:2018 and ISO 5501-1:2024) for cigarette and heated tobacco products.
