On January 14, 2025, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, the Ministry of Justice, the Korea Communications Commission, and the National Human Rights Commission of Korea held a conference to discuss major issues. The conference focused on "Safety Society (Prevention of Crime and Disaster) and Regional Revitalization" and discussed key tasks for recovering citizens' safe daily lives and boosting regional economic vitality. The key tasks included: * Administrative Support Bureau: To support citizens' stable and convenient daily lives, they will establish a social order and protect citizens from crimes, manage disasters on a schedule, strengthen cooperation between central and local governments to recover the local economy, and provide digital innovation for safe and convenient digital administrative services. * Ministry of Justice: To punish crimes that threaten public safety, expand the scope of national defense attorney support for victims of certain crimes, and establish a customized visa policy for foreigners. They will also introduce a "Top Tier Visa" to attract high-quality foreign talent in advanced fields like AI, and a "Youth Dream Visa" to provide opportunities for young people from countries that are friendly to Korea. * National Human Rights Commission: To enhance citizens' lives and promote national development, they will establish a joint agreement with various public and private institutions to create a systematic and sustainable support system for vulnerable groups. They will also analyze citizen complaints using big data and provide early warnings of seasonal or cyclical issues to induce proactive policy responses from administrative agencies. * National Communications Commission: To achieve a trustworthy and vibrant digital media society, they will improve the review process to quickly block harmful or illegal information, eliminate regulatory blind spots in digital platform services, and create a system for reporting abuses by telecommunications companies. They will also implement measures to reduce the burden of purchasing mobile devices on citizens. The Minister-in-Charge emphasized that protecting citizens from crimes and disasters is the government's basic duty and cannot be neglected. The government must take proactive steps to prevent disasters and ensure safety, and must not leave any gaps in its response. The Minister-in-Charge also stressed the importance of cooperation between central and local governments to recover the local economy. He emphasized that the government should lead the way in resolving difficult issues, especially during hard times, and work towards a more transparent and just society. Finally, the Minister-in-Charge requested that each ministry explain their key tasks and plans to citizens through press conferences once a month.
