SIU to investigate corruption allegations at NCEDA

Summary:

President Cyril Ramaphosa has authorized the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) to investigate alleged corruption in the affairs of the Northern Cape Economic Development and Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (NCEDA). The SIU will probe seven contracts for goods and services, as well as alleged serious maladministration of salary adjustments and unauthorized expenditure. The investigation will also cover allegations of unlawful and improper conduct by officials and employees of NCEDA, suppliers, and service providers. The SIU aims to recover financial losses and identify system failures to make recommendations for improving measures to prevent future losses.
