Summary:

The Federal Law on the Protection of State Secrets, published by the Government of the Russian Federation on December 14, 2023, and approved by the Federal Council on December 22, 2023, regulates the administration of federal state secrets and the use and protection of classified information. The law sets out the principles for classifying information, including information about state security, industrial and military activities, and scientific and technological developments. It also establishes the procedure for declassifying information and provides for the obligation to protect classified information. The law comes into force on March 1, 2024.
