Brief

Summary:

The Italian Ministry of Labor and Social Policies has joined the European Labour Agency's (ELA) campaign #EU4FairConstruction to raise awareness on the issue of workers being detached in the construction sector. The sector currently employs the largest number of detached workers in Europe, with approximately 13 million people and 3 million businesses affected. The aim of the campaign is to ensure that workers and employers have access to information on applicable legislation in the construction industry. The ELA has coordinated various social activities across European member states, including information sessions, and will actively support inspections by regulatory authorities to strengthen the transnational application of rules.

Summary:

On [Date], the Italian Ministry of Labor and Social Policies officially joins the European Union’s (EU) campaign ‘#EU4FairConstruction’, launched by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA). The campaign aims to inform and raise awareness about the issue of precarious work in the construction sector, which is currently the professional area with the largest number of contract workers in Europe, with approximately 13 million workers and 3 million companies. The Italian Ministry has pledged to relaunch and promote the EU-OSHA’s message through its own communication channels and coordinate efforts with relevant administrations and organizations involved in the enforcement of sectoral regulations.

The ‘#EU4FairConstruction’ campaign is an important initiative aimed at ensuring that workers and employers have access to accurate information about the relevant legislation in the construction sector. To achieve this goal, the EU-OSHA has planned various social activities, including awareness sessions and joint inspections, in collaboration with member states. These joint inspections are designed to reinforce the transnational application of regulations and prevent issues related to precarious work in the construction sector.

The Italian Ministry will play a key role in promoting the campaign by sharing information and resources on its channels, as well as coordinating efforts with other relevant stakeholders. Additionally, the Ministry will support the organization and coordination of joint inspections and other activities aimed at improving the application of regulations in the sector.
