On 26/06/2025, the Environment Agency issued an update regarding "Environment Agency launches clean-up operation at Hoad’s Wood". A major operation to remove tonnes of harmful waste from Hoad's Wood in Kent has begun, with over 50 specialist workers deployed to dig up and safely dispose of more than 30,000 tonnes of household and construction waste. The operation is expected to take over a year to complete, marking an important step in restoring the Site of Special Interest as a sanctuary for both wildlife and people.
