On 28 April 2025, the Bellville Commercial Crimes Court convicted Benjamin Zass, former deputy mayor of Cederberg Municipality, on charges of fraud and contravention of the Municipal Finance Management Act. The court will resume with his sentence proceedings on 29 May 2025, following successful prosecution by Andre Botman who led evidence from seven witnesses, including the complainant Louisa Swartz.
