"On March 13, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights determined that Brazil is responsible for human rights violations in 171 quilombola communities located in Alcântara, Maranhão. The court found that Brazil violated rights to collective property and free circulation and residence, among others, by failing to demarcate, title, and intrude the territory of the quilombolas."
