Federal Revenue retains jewelry at Recife International Airport

On March 17, the Receita Federal conducted a routine check at Salvador's airport, resulting in the retention of jewelry valued at approximately R$1.000.000,00. The agency identified an irregularity during the inspection and notified the passenger about the retenção, explaining the reasons and possible legal consequences. The Secretaria da Fazenda de Pernambuco (Sefaz-PE) was alerted to continue the action, considering the merchandise as national goods. An analysis of fiscal documents will be conducted on Tuesday (18) to verify the origin of the goods, and if irregularity is proven, Sefaz-PE will apply the due autuação with penalties and tax debt.
