Radio Broadcasting to Cuba Act 1983

The Radio Broadcasting to Cuba Act was enacted on October 4, 1983, with the aim of broadcasting accurate information to the people of Cuba. The law found that it is the policy of the United States to support freedom of expression and that radio broadcasting to Cuba would be effective in promoting this goal. It authorized the United States Information Agency (USIA) to provide for open communication of information and ideas through radio broadcasting to Cuba, utilizing facilities at Marathon, Florida, and other frequencies as necessary. The law also established a Board for Radio Broadcasting to Cuba to review the effectiveness of these activities and make recommendations.
