On January 23, 2025, the Australian Energy Market Commission made a final rule to secure South Australia's electricity supply this summer. The decision allows two additional power stations, Snuggery and Port Lincoln, to be considered as emergency backup power sources due to worsening reliability risks identified by AEMO. This exemption from usual market restrictions will end on March 31, 2025.
