On December 3, 2024, the Commission of the Canadian Energy Regulator approved Westcoast Energy Inc.'s application to abandon the Pointed Mountain pipeline. The majority of the Commission denied Westcoast's request for an exemption from the CSA-Z662-23 oil and gas pipeline systems safety standard regarding six test lead posts to be abandoned in place.
