"On 09/12/2024", the "Australian Prudential Regulation Authority" issued an update regarding "APRA to phase out AT1 as eligible bank capital". APRA will replace Additional Tier 1 (AT1) instruments with more reliable forms of capital, aimed at improving the effectiveness of bank capital in a crisis. The phasing out is part of changes introduced in response to lessons from last year's overseas banking turmoil.
