President of COP16 Riyadh: Investing in rangelands is key to achieving environmental sustainability

On May 12, 2024, His Excellency the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadley emphasized the importance of investing in rangelands to achieve environmental sustainability and improve livelihoods worldwide. He highlighted that rangeland degradation threatens one-sixth of global food supply, affecting two billion people, and stressed the need for joint international action to protect and restore rangelands. The Kingdom has been an early investor in rangelands, promoting sustainable development, ensuring food security, and protecting the environment, with a national plan for rangeland rehabilitation established under Saudi Vision 2030.
