On December 10, 2024, the Financial Intelligence Unit issued an update regarding Changes in the regulations on Politically Exposed Persons. The update aims to clarify and concretely define who holds "prominent public functions" and are therefore subject to the PEP regime, in line with international standards and recommendations by the GAFI. This modification aligns with international standards and domestic legislation of other countries that adhere to these guidelines, enhancing the effectiveness of the national prevention system against LA/FT/PT.
