"On 03/12/2024, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued an update regarding HHS Office for Civil Rights Imposes a $1.19 Million Penalty Against Gulf Coast Pain Consultants for HIPAA Security Rule Violations". The penalty was imposed due to four violations of the HIPAA Security Rule, including failures to conduct an accurate risk analysis, review records of activity in information systems, and terminate former workforce members' access to electronic protected health information (ePHI).
