New report proposes actions to align national standards for the rail industry

"On 01/09/2024, the Australasian Railway Association (ARA), National Transport Commission (NTC), Office of National Rail Industry Coordination (ONRIC), and Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board (RISSB) issued a research report titled The Harmonisation of Rail Standards (HoS). The report highlights the barriers and potential benefits in aligning national rail standards, with an estimated $155 billion investment in rail over 15 years, and proposes actions to strengthen domestic manufacturing, improve safety, and accelerate progress towards net zero emissions."
