The amendment was challenged by the Democratic Alliance in the High Court of South Africa on 19 March 2024, which led to a judgment upholding the challenge and setting aside the amended Regulation 4(2)." "The court ordered that Regulation 4(2) be reinstated in its pre-amendment form, requiring Political Election Broadcasts (PEBs) to be submitted at least five working days prior to broadcast.
