Brief

On 23/10/2024, the National Institute for Industrial Environment and Risks issued an update regarding "Launch of the European SIRIMA project". The European SIRIMA project aims to develop knowledge of localized subsidence (fontis) in coal mining areas with shallow depths. The project, funded by the Research Fund for Coal and Steel, will be coordinated by the Polish Institute of Mine Safety and conducted by nine partners from four European countries, including France, Poland, Germany, and Spain. L'Institut participait récemment à Katowice (Pologne) à la réunion de lancement du projet européen SIRIMA. The Ineris plays a crucial role in the project by contributing to the creation of a European database for subsidence-related data and conducting advanced analyses to improve the prediction of such events. This database will help identify key factors that contribute to the occurrence of localized subsidence.
