Brief

The "Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2563 of 24 September 2024 amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1646 as regards additional content of the national risk-based control plans and the national randomised surveillance plan" aims to enhance food safety by requiring more detailed information on follow-up measures taken by competent authorities. This regulation will have a significant impact on the industry, particularly in terms of data sharing and compliance with EU regulations, from 1 January 2025 onwards. The regulation introduces new requirements for national risk-based control plans and surveillance plans, including the need to specify species to be sampled and competent authorities responsible for implementation. Member States must submit additional data by June 30th and finalize data validation by August 31st each year. The important compliance considerations include ensuring accurate and detailed reporting of follow-up measures taken by competent authorities, as well as meeting the new minimum sampling frequencies set out in Annex I to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1646.
