The Supervisory Information (Cooperative Credit Associations) Regulations were made by Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, pursuant to section 435.1 of the Cooperative Credit Associations Act. The Regulations came into force on January 30, 2001.
The Regulations prescribe supervisory information in relation to an association and its affiliates, including ratings assigned by the Superintendent, stages of intervention, orders made under the Act, reports prepared by or at the request of the Superintendent, and recommendations made by the Superintendent as a result of examinations or other supervisory reviews. The prescribed supervisory information includes any report prepared by or at the request of the Superintendent or any recommendation made by the Superintendent.
The Regulations also prescribe supervised information in relation to affiliates of an association, including banks, authorized foreign banks, insurance companies, trust and loan companies, bank holding companies, and insurance holding companies.
These regulations were created to provide additional regulatory clarity for cooperative credit associations, ensuring they comply with the requirements of the Cooperative Credit Associations Act. The regulations are intended to promote financial stability by providing transparent information about an association's financial condition and any concerns related to its operations.
