Broadcasting Act

The Broadcasting Act is a Canadian law that sets out the policy and regulations for broadcasting in Canada. The Act declares the Canadian broadcasting system to be effectively owned and controlled by Canadians, with the goal of serving the needs and interests of all Canadians through a public service essential to the maintenance and enhancement of national identity and cultural sovereignty. The policy aims to promote innovation, adaptability to scientific and technological change, reflect and respond to audience preferences, ensure freedom of expression and journalistic independence, and provide programming that is varied, comprehensive, and accessible without barriers to persons with disabilities.
