Brief
Summary:
The NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has released a report finding that three former Hurstville City and/or Georges River councillors, Vincenzo Badalati, Constantine Hindi, and Philip Sansom, engaged in serious corrupt conduct between 2014 and 2021. The conduct involved accepting benefits from a developer, Ching Wah (Philip) Uy, in relation to two large development proposals, and failing to declare conflicts of interest. The ICAC also found that Uy engaged in serious corrupt conduct by providing benefits to the councillors. The Commission has made 11 corruption prevention recommendations to the Department of Planning and Environment and is seeking advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions on whether any prosecution should be commenced.
