Fact-finding survey on the interest in carrying out activities in Italy falling within the application scope of MiCAR, Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation

Summary:

The MiCAR regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/1114) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on June 9, 2023, and will be applicable from December 30, 2024, except for the provisions related to activity tokens (ART) and electronic money tokens (EMT), which will be applicable from June 30, 2024. The Consob, Banca d'Italia, and OAM are conducting a knowledge survey to understand the potential interest in Italy in activities covered by MiCAR and to support the preparation for the application of the regulation. They are targeting banks, electronic money institutions, payment institutions, financial intermediaries, SIMs, OICVM and FIA managers, central securities depositories, and regulated market managers, as well as entities that currently provide services and activities covered by MiCAR. The survey is being conducted through modalities agreed upon by the authorities and OAM.
