Media Equity Law: the creation of the Registry and the Equity Policy Forum was made official

On November 10, 2023, the Argentine Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security officially created the Registry of Media and the Forum for Equity Policies. The Registry aims to promote gender equality in the media sector by registering and certifying media outlets that meet specific criteria, such as promoting inclusive language, providing training on gender topics, and having policies in place to prevent gender-based violence. The Forum, which was also launched, will promote dialogue and participation among stakeholders to promote gender equality in the media industry. The creation of the Registry and Forum is in line with the Argentine Law 27,635 on Equity in Representation of Genders in Services of Communication, which aims to promote real equality of rights, opportunities, and treatment for all individuals, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or expression.
