Brief
Summary:
The Department of Higher Education and Training has cancelled the registration of four Educor institutions due to their failure to submit proof of financial viability. The institutions, City Varsity, Damelin, Icesa City Campus, and Lyceum College, failed to submit their annual financial statements and tax clearance certificates for 2021 and 2022. The Minister, Dr. Blade Nzimande, also highlighted numerous complaints from students, including poor quality of teaching, lack of administrative support, and corruption. The Minister stated that the institutions are deemed dysfunctional and are mainly measured against the daily complaints and grievances received from students. As a result, the institutions will be given a period to phase out pipeline students and will have to reimburse students where due.
